Kendrick Lamar threw fans for a loop when he performed “Untitled” on The Colbert Report over a year ago. It was months before the Compton rapper released his critically acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly LP. The song created quite a buzz. Musician Terrace Martin eventually went on record to state that the untitled offering didn’t “exist nowhere in the world.” That’s until now.
A screenshot of an album named untitled unmastered. surfaced on HHNM last night. Top Dawg Entertainment’s CEO teased the idea of an upcoming release from someone on his roster, but didn’t clue fans in on which artist. “I’ve decided 2 drop a project 1 day this week,” Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith wrote on Instagram. Later warning, “Jus stay close to the net.”
Fans have already gotten a total of three of Kendrick’s untitled songs. He performed the second one on the The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and delivered the third during his powerful performance at this year’s Grammy Awards.
Top Dawg recently revealed the label’s 2016 release schedule. It showed forthcoming projects from SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, and two new artists. There were questions surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s next move, but that has now been answered.
