If you’ve got that foul stench of WWE’s Fast Lane still on your body, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon brought out some beautiful Japanese soap to wash you down with. Moments after WWE’s last stop toward the “Road To WrestleMania” went off the air, the company officially announced the signing of former New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Shinsuke Nakamura.
“Talent is the lifeblood of our company, and the signing of Shinsuke Nakamura further demonstrates NXT’s commitment to bringing in the best talent from all over the world,” Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative said in a statement. “His explosive style will make an immediate impact to an already dynamic NXT men’s division.”
Nakamura is set to make his debut at NXT:Takeover Dallas on WrestleMania weekend as he takes on former NXT Champion, Sami Zayn. The company also put together a nifty video that features cameos from the aforementioned Triple H and Stephanie McMahon along with NXT Champion Finn Balor, NXT head trainer Matt Bloom, WWE Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens, AJ Styles and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, all gushing over one of the biggest stars in NJPW history.
What’s more important is that it looks like the WWE isn’t going to mess too much with his gimmick, and is going to let him continue to go by the name of Shinsuke Nakamura and be the flamboyant ass-kicking Japanese Freddie Mercury that made him a superstar around the globe.
What a time to be a wrestling fan.
